Part 2 will cover three more of the Top 5 Spring Electrical Projects.
3) Hot Tub Installation
Installing a hot tub in the back of your home is another great way to enjoy the outdoors. Why not do this early in the spring so you and your family can enjoy all the warm weather coming your way the rest of the year.
Your installation will need either a 110V or 220V supply of electricity, as determined by the hot tub you purchase. An licensed electrician experienced in wiring hot tubs will be able to give you all the advice you need for safety and the best results.
4) Ceiling Fan Installation
Some of Maryland’s spring and summer days will be muggy, so your patio can use a solid solution to make life cooler on your patio. Install an outdoor ceiling fan or two to circulate the air and chase some of the humidity away. Make sure to get outdoor wet-rated models that will stay safe when it rains.
Consider also installing new outdoor ceiling fans or replacing the older ones. Indoor ceiling fans let you raise your home’s thermostat by four degrees, lowering your electrical consumption for air conditioning. You can also save on utility bills by turning off a ceiling fan if no one is around to be cooled off. Ceiling fans cool people off, not the room itself.
5) Standby Generator Installation
None of the above spring electrical projects can be enjoyed if you lose power from your utility company. Maryland is ranked 11th in the U.S. for the number of utility customers per capita who experience power outages. Fortunately, you can ensure you can take advantage of all your outdoor electrical improvements by installing an emergency standby generator.
Look for a local highly rated licensed electrician who is very experienced in installing residential standby generators. This ensures you will have a properly installed unit and your family will be safe. High quality models can detect the loss of electricity immediately and automatically activate itself within seconds.
